A Muslim Reflection On Buddhist

Assalamualaikum and hye everyone.
Sollu alan nabi.

Just recovered from unease stomach after coming back from Kuantan. I think Kuantan is not for me since last December I went there, also got stomach upset and vomited. Or maybe I need to visit Pahang more so my body tolerates well. (As if Pahang is another country pulak dah. You got winter or not, Pahang?)

The story started when I got an invitation from Dr. Kim Chan to join her in medical outreach for Myanmar refugees there. I knew Dr. Chan during Hospital Survival Course and since she personally invited me I felt delighted a bit but confused a bit because a friend asked me to join a retreat in Terengganu. A place I reaaally wanted to go for holiday. Of all days, the retreat happened to be on the same date as the outreach. So after a thought, I decided to join the medical outreach with Tzu Chi and hoping that the retreat postponed the date which was not happening. So sad๐Ÿ˜”. Hopefully I can join them later.

Although I always had a big aim, this time I just had one focus.
To observe how Tzu Chi's people work.
And how I can improve my teams (yes plural here no mistake. Haha).
Explain why I finally decided to take the invitation and forget Terengganu. Huhu.

Hence, before I went, I pinned in my head that I need to focus on my target. It's okay if I can't do much but I'll make sure to learn something about Tzu Chi. Actually I had been interested with this NGO while joining the course I previously mentioned. Let's take a look on what I've learnt so far๐Ÿ˜‰.

TIME
I have been reminded many times how time is important and its vitality is even mentioned in Al-Quran. Even have one surah specifically explaining about it! But but but...
It is only with Tzu Chi I've seen it is practiced well. I mean I have been to many programs, courses and few conferences. Believe me, with Tzu Chi everything works according to each tick of clock. They followed the schedule closely. I remember my friends and I was late for 7 minutes because I had diarrhea and we arrived late at the course and missed many things already. This time, I was late also because my bus delayed (nyampoh betul๐Ÿ˜ ), I reached bus station at 4.30 am and rushed to Jing Si hall which is half an hour by car and the bus will depart at 5! Luckily made it and moved to Kuantan exactly at 5a.m as scheduled (I didn't see the time, someone said so just believe then haa๐Ÿ˜). Reached Kuantan and everything already set up by the committees that were there a day before.

MANAGEMENT
Also not lying for this one, but the organization was nearly perfect! I could see that, maybe they had many volunteers, everything went smoothly. Plus, as they excellently work on everything as per scheduled I hardly seen anything messed up during the event. Everyone works diligently at their specified post and the refugees who came to the clinic knew (with the help of the ushers) what to do next and next. It looks like a real clinic. The documentation (almost) like the one in hospital, comfortable waiting area (thanks to the big hall) and well-equipped staff. Got portable bed, partition and dentist chair (is there any specific name for it?). I was amazed with the dentistry area. Some refugees even had their tooth retracted there.

STABLE FINANCE
This I talked with Dr. Chan because I'm curious how they maintain to fund every refugees family each month, pay for the school, give free medical aids and many more. No wonder Tzu Chi has sustainable finance since they got continuous support from a generous businessmen. Besides, Tzu Chi people themselve very committed in donating for their organization. Mashaallah. This act of giving is instilled since a young age and it is very amazing how they become a devoted donor without people asking for them to give. Mashaallah this really make me reflect upon myself because I failed to do so for my so called beloved ABIM Mesir. Shameful! Hopefully I can do better when I had stable job and become dedicated donor. Ameen. Maybe own a business also to support the movement. Ameen.

RECRUITMENT (I like the word 'kaderisasi' better here haha)
If you went back to MANAGEMENT point, I did mention about they having many volunteers. They really have a lot. You can confirm with my friends on this. We were stunned by the number! I think because a member like Dr. Chan, a big number of volunteers is possible to achieve. I heard her name many times by different people. It was a simple start and she welcome everyone. And the best thing is, she is not the only one with that spirit. Dr. Eddy, Madam Ng, Miss Fanny and many more give their best to bring more young people to the field of volunteerism. And they cared so much for people who works with them. I was touched. Thank you Mdm Ng and his son Aaron for accompanying me to TBS๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜™

There is still a lot, but I think I'll just share just all the above because I think it is important to have a firm grip on those four to make a good/better organization. Especially the TIME part.. fellow Muslims, we can and should do better on this๐Ÿ’ช. The rest I'll keep to myself. Haha. And if you can foresee, all of these start with one person. Me and you. It is perhaps true that your group leads and gives you the platform, but the changes is on us. If we don't have any intention to do better then nothing will happen.

In some way, it is true that religion do not define you, but your behavior do๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜‰

Now go on with your job.

Thank you for reading hope you gain something and till next post!
