Assalamualaikum and hai everyone.
My god. I really see you all ‘next year’ minus 5 days.
People, applaud!!! Haha
Last week, I came across a video on Youtube channel. If you know (Because I didn’t
know so I google-searched him haha) Hazeman Huzir, that video was about him
having blind date with few girls his friends set up with in dating app. Well,
it was not the dating part that interested me but his good taste in girl which
is also one of my biggest concern I look for in man/woman (plus good look
haha).
Intellectual (He first mentioned cleverness).
This remind me of a book by Syed Hussein Alatas, ‘Intelektual Masyarakat
Membangun’.
By the way, am not doing book review here. I just reminded of that book.
How are you doing there?
Although cleverness nearly define intellectual, not all clever people is
actually intellectual. As for me, cleverness is not nearly equal to
intellectual despite the fact that you need to be knowledgeable first to be
considered as an intellect.
Intellectual is more about what you have in your brain, the reflection of
your soul and the action you carry out after integrating all the information,
causes and effects.
By external definition, it is a combination of maturity and dexterity.
Clearly, I’m not an intellectual.
And obviously, it is not easy to become one.
One of the criteria you need to have to appear intellective is
appreciative. To language. Hazeman Huzir did mentioned this. Well he didn’t
really mention like ‘I want a girl who appreciates language’. No. This is my
connotation. By appreciation, I mean we should embrace our mother tongue and respect other’s native language. Don’t ever make someone’s language a joke or
belittle those who is learning language and please learn language so you can
mind your words. You don't have to be highly linguistically intelligent, just use whatever words you have in a nice way that will portray your wisdom.
Syed Hussein Alattas the scholar wrote in his book (I mentioned earlier), intellectual
is related to it’s person, character and function. In term of language per se,
one who has the ability to understand language, should, by this mean show one’s
manner (adab and akhlak is better words here) through the beauty of language
and advance it to the society. Some of you might say, it’s just a language,
but, you too shall know, language build a nation.
Although it is not an ‘abc’ journey, it is not impossible. The desire and
passion to become one is what important.
So, that is it. Don’t distort (our) language.
Conclusion: Person with poor application of language irked me at some point. (Disclaimer: not poor grammar)
So, is it prince charming or prince intellective for you?
